Sustainable transportation for all
The etymology of ZEROCAR is derived from the desired achievement of ‘ZERO CARBON FOOTPRINT’ also known as Carbon Neutrality or Net Zero emissions which refers to achieving net-zero carbon dioxide emissions through the use of electric vehicles. In the automotive category this means the endorsement of electric vehicles also referred to as zero emission vehicles (ZEV’s).
Transportation is the second largest source of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in Canada. This accounts for a quarter of Canada’s total GHG emissions and almost half of those emissions come from cars and light trucks. One way that we can reduce the amount of transportation-related GHG emissions is to get more zero-emission vehicles (ZEVs) on the road.

A recent Vancity survey has revealed that 95% of ‘Vancouverites’ choose car-sharing services for the convenience, 62% to save money and 58% due to the concern for the environment.

Vancouver has more carsharing vehicles per capita than any other in North America, with 47.5 vehicles per 10,000 people (Vancity, 2018).
